Alright, a few days ago I did a new calibration. I reset the screen’s Gain and Offset using “Auto” in the hidden service menu. After that I revised my DispCAL settings one more time. I set white target to 6500 – after initial display adjustment to the point measurement showed white to be at target, everything was super blue.

After calibration and profiling and applying the resulting ICC profile neutrals still felt a little warm so I gave my eyes a few days to adjust. Now it feels good in the evening but feels warm during daytime , mostly because there is snow outside resulting in colder light from the window.

I’ll try going for an even colder target, but I think the calibration seems to work as intended now.

Thank you greatly for your patience with me!

Just one more question: Is there a way to compensate with the white of ambient lighting drifting through the day? I mean something better than having different profiles for morning and evening and switching them.

    Closing the blinds

Sadly, I have serious depression and daylight is what helps me fight it. I need it, otherwise it gets much worse. 🙁

Not really, but depending on how stable the screen is at different brightness levels and how much color accuracy you really need you might get away with just changing the backlight (normally not recommenced!)

Sorry to hear that. It’s something I had to deal with in my life a few years back. A main part in getting rid of depression for me was the diagnosis of my hypothyroidism, and getting subscribed appropriate medication for it which reduced all depression symptoms to basically zero within a year and a half (I got a special 10000 Lux daylight lamp for the darker evening hours which also helped – not good for computer work though, even a very bright monitor will look dim compared to such a powerful light source).
