Hello.
I’m trying to calibrate my reference monitor in DaVinci Resolve with DisplayCal that is hooked up via decklink card. But everytime I launch the calibrate and profile button my measurement area only shows up on my graphic card displays and not on my reference monitor.
Any idea what I might be missing?
Kind regards
2018-08-30 at 18:42 #13372ps. I should maybe mention some technical stuff. I’m using MacOs Sierra, Resolve 15 and the probe is a Spyder Elite 4. My reference monitor is hooked up via the HDMI port of the Blackmagic Mini Monitor 4K decklink card and Resolve is feeding the monitor the full screen signal while working inside Resolve without problems but the measurement area via Displaycal and the readings don’t show up on that monitor.
2018-08-31 at 18:40 #13390Hi, you have to click “Start measurement” first.
2018-08-31 at 20:08 #13397That I did and it starts to send signal on the monitor hooked up to the graphic card but nothing to the monitor that’s hooked up to the decklink card…
2018-09-01 at 20:51 #13402Ps. Just another mention, I did uncheck “Release video I/O hardware when not in focus”.
Thank you for any help, it is getting very urgent I get this system calibrated as quick as possible :-/
2018-09-01 at 23:50 #13404Sorry, but if Resolve is not displaying the patches, then that is likely a Resolve problem. Make sure you’re on the right tab (“Color”) and using the right interface (“Spectracal CalMAN”).
2018-09-02 at 9:41 #13407This is the case. I’m on the color tab and using the spectracal. I might mention that at first I didn’t get the local address to work on the 20002 port to work but I read in another thread where you suggested to use 127.0.0.1 and that made the connection for me! But the signal isn’t fed to the decklink monitor…
thanks for the help!
2018-09-04 at 8:06 #13440Hi again!
I’m still trying to get to the bottom of my problem and still no luck. Could it be the probe that is creating this? Just a thought because I’m really at the end of having tried everything.
best regards
2018-09-05 at 3:39 #13446It sounds to me that your timeline might be empty. It’s required to have a clip in Resolve timeline in order for the patterns to appear on the external monitor.
2018-09-05 at 8:10 #13447Thank you Willam… I wish it was so 🙂 but no unfortunately, my timeline is not empty.
But this is good to know, are there any other such things that have to be taken into consideration before proceeding?
I basically followed this tutorial to the letter: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ugfcvfXNsqc
Can it have anything to do with project resolution vs screen resolution?
Or is it perhaps this new release of Resolve, version 15 that is not supporting this any longer?
2018-09-05 at 14:35 #13452I’m going to try Resolve 15 and DisplayCAl 3.6.2 on my desktop computer today. I’m writing from my MacBook Pro Mid 2015 where I occasionally run Resolve 4.3 for DIT work. I’ll let you about the result.
2018-09-05 at 14:53 #13453Thanks a lot!
2018-09-06 at 20:37 #13480I’m sorry to say that I’m not going to be able to do the test between Resolve 15 and DisplayCAL until this upcoming weekend.
2018-09-07 at 11:01 #13495Could you still tell me if it worked for you once it’s done?
Much appreciated, thanks!
2018-09-07 at 19:32 #13499I just did the test on Resolve Studio 15 and DisplayCAL 3.6.2. Everything is running as expected in both systems:
