    So, if we edit the 11point white balance setting in the TV to target a certain tone curve. Does that clip some of the gamut of the TV.

    For example, if it limits the peak blue values because the 100% white is now D65 instead of whatever it came with.
    OR, does the 3D lut creation process naturally lope that off even if it was untouched.

    It might, when the adjusted white is far from native. It depends on how the white balance controls are implemented in a display. If you don’t want to limit the gamut, it might be preferable to let the 3D LUT handle the whitepoint adjustment.
