@lello58 no, we didn’t abondoned the project, and a new release is coming soon.

The problem is that, as everybody else helping me with the project, this is not my main gig, I do other stuff, mainly to earn my life, help other projects etc., and I can only reserve my free time to DisplayCAL when I have some… hopefully, these days I have lots of free time and doing a lot of work in DisplayCAL.

So, no worries, DisplayCAL is not dead yet 🙂

I completely understand and thank you for the time you have dedicated, and will dedicate, to this project.

While waiting for the new version, I would like to clear up a doubt that I have always had: before creating the 3dlut, is it better to calibrate only brightness and contrast or also the white balance?

The patch set measured to create a 3DLUT normally contains a lot of colors and not that much greyscale. So already having a good white balance by that time helps.

Got a new M4 macbook pro and got thrown this error trying to install the arm version of the OSX installer :/
Am I missing something or is the osx/arm installer actually broken? I’m currently running the latest OSX Sequoia 15.3.2

    @jonathan Graham

After installing DisplayCAL you need to run:

    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/DisplayCAL.app

Also, I just released DisplayCAL 3.9.15, download and use that one instead: https://github.com/eoyilmaz/displaycal-py3/releases

Windows people, DisplayCAL should now be working without any major issues (apart from the bloody WPARAM error messages thrown by the profile loader… but will solve that one too shortly)…

Thanks.   I just got Windows 11 and the old display cal profile loader is temperamental.  The profile associations in not use my settings for this device make it crash.  I think it does not load a profile without  a lut since my red does not blend in at 32 and 31  at lagon  contrast test.    When I load a profile it does though.  Windows 11 is not the same with SDR.   Thats a long other subject.

We need a new Windows 11 display cal.  Thank you.

Ah bingo! Appreciate the help, Erkan!
It would be great if the Python version of the application could be available on this website to help people who are directed towards DisplayCAL find the right software. The app certainly seems to be in a working position now!

Unfortunatelly, I don’t have access to a Windows 11 PC, but the error seems to be trivial. I already fixed some regressions that we introduces with 3.9.15, so 3.9.16 release is imminent, hopefully I can also solve the Windows 11 related issues.

Hey Erkan, The xattr works well. Though every time i launch i am asked to download and install AgryllCMS despite doing it the last time i opened. I continue the install successfully anyway and complete a profile and calibration but I’m getting an error when trying to build the 3D LUT for resolve. “Not all arguments converted during bytes formatting” and it fails the build. The current settings for the LUT are included in the screenshot. Am I missing something? Many thanks for your help!! 🙂

I get the same error.  After successful characterization, I have to launch 3.8.9.3 version to export the LUT.

Hey Jonathan, it is weird that you need to keep downloading the ArgyllCMS executables, can you create an issue ticket here: http://www.github.com/eoyilmaz/displaycal-py3/issues

The 3DLUT generation has just been fixed and will be available with DisplayCAL 3.9.16 hopefully this week.

Appreciate it Erkan! Opened an issue for it on the github.
