    Hi all !

First of all, a big thank you to the people involved in displayCal and argyllCMS development, and helping and sharing on the forum. Last time I used it was some years ago and it seems like a lot of work has been done since then !

I have a sony vaio pro 13 laptop and a secondary monitor (HP Pavilion 23xi). As you can see, no professional material but should be ok for amateur photography… ?

I’m trying to calibrate my displays, with no success. I suppose the problem is between keyboard and chair…

I first went through the calibration process (see results attached FIRST_HP23xi_ect…), and checked with Measurment report, everything was OK (errors << recommended values, average deltaE 0.4, maximum deltaE 2.4). BUT my contrast was very low (114:1). I found out that it was due to the HDMI connection and a bad configuration of dynamic range, and fixed it (Intel graphics, HDMI -> full range).

Having fixed this, I run the calibration process again, obtain a contrast over 800:1 at 100cd/m2, but HUGE errors in the measurment report, with an average Delta E of 6.8 (maximum 15). I attached the profile and all infos in SECOND_HP_23xi_etc…. I tried four times, with different calibration speed and profile quality but no success.

My screen is calibrated at 6000k and 100cd/m2, this seems to be OK, but in the report I dont understand the different lines about whitepoint :

    • Display profile whitepoint 6504
    • Measured whitepoint 6008
    • Assumed target 6000

What am i doing wrong ?

I would like to fix this before calibrating my laptop’s display…

    Thanks for reading !

    Clement

You set rec2020 as display profile for bad one… it should be as bad as it shows because an uncalibrated HP 23i (or calibrated) is not even close to that.

Also you are not using White LED correction for colorimeter so calibration & measurements are not valid. Redo calibration. Once done, run measurement report without simulation profile.

    Thank you Vincent !

I don’t know how the simulation profile got checked,  and I didn’t notice as I was launching the report measurments from the top menu.

Some things are still a bit mysterious to me but your help and this post  helped me understand checking / validation of the created profiles.

So calibration again with white LED correction and measurement report without simulation profile. Done, results attached. Everything green 🙂

    Seems OK now ?

    Thanks again !
