I have calibrated my monitor, using DisplayCAL. This all seems fine.

There is, among the taskbar icons, an icon for the DisplayCal profile loader. Left-clicking it brings up a message saying “calibration state was applied [x] times today.” And, it would appear that when the calibration state is (re)applied, the icon spins around…

…and the display momentarily reverts to some other colour calibration.

I find this annoying, that over and over again, the display colour changes, then comes back to normal.

Is there any way to stop this from happening?

[bump] Really: Is there any way to set this up so that the diplay does not flicker back and forth between (I assume) the new, calibrated profile; and some other (Windows default?) profile? It is super annoying

The profile loader does its job.

Find the other program that is interfering and unloading your calibration, then disable/uninstall it.

Find the other program that is interfering and unloading your calibration…

Thank you! Any suggestions on how to do that? Are there programs that are likely offenders?

Input peripheral utilities, “picture enhancement” utilities, anything that does not come standard with the OS.
