19:43:51,280 The profile could not be installed/activated.2017-12-31 at 14:11 #9954Hi,
possibly a graphics driver problem. Check under Windows color management settings on the “Devices” tab if your display is listed and if you can assign profiles to it.
2017-12-31 at 19:52 #9963It’s listed (HP_OMEN_32.icm), but when I attempt to add another profile it tells me “access is denied”.
Nothing special with my graphics driver, updated to latest. I did have a different monitor before and had to unlock the edid or something like that, pretty sure that shouldn’t be the issue.

That’s the problem then. You may need to figure out why the system is denying access.
2019-06-26 at 11:44 #18335I had similar problem using Windows 10 — «The profile could not be installed/activated».
And the issue was solved after I deleted all rows below # in the file «hosts», which situated in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc, and restarted my computer.

2019-06-26 at 11:48 #18338I can guarantee you that there is nothing in “hosts” that will interfere with profile installation. It’s probably the well-known Windows 10 1903 bug you’re running into (which is why a restart fixed it).

You are right, the problem was back after cold boot.
Disabling Fast Startup in Control Panel\Power Options fixed this.

2019-08-09 at 16:36 #19125Sorry, forgot to mention. Tried reinstalling twice including the older version. Also tried reinstalling DisplayCal. Nothing helped.
2019-08-11 at 6:54 #19171Also the fast start up is OFF.
2019-08-13 at 6:52 #19206UPDATE: After some experiments I was able to fix that. Gonna tell my story for those who might got into the same issue.
After the recent windows (or nvidia) update my Monitor (Device Manager > Monitors) picked up some random monitor driver that was left on my PC. In the Device Manager it was listed as “Unknown PnP Monitor” which looked completely fine, but Driver Details showed “Provider: Teamviewer”.
I uninstalled the Monitor from the Device Manager (with ticked option “Uninstall current driver”) and after that Monitor appeared with the default windows driver (“Generic PnP Monitor” with “Provider: Microsoft Corp”). After that DisplayCal was able to apply the profile.
Note: in my case I had to re-install Monitor (with the wrong driver removal) and not the Display adapter in the list of devices in Device Manager.

2020-04-11 at 19:13 #24174Hey guys, old thread I know, but I ran into the same issue, and the Alex NN’s fix didn’t work for me, because I already had the Generic PnP driver installed.
However, I’ve find out how to make it work, since by just opening the DisplayCal software and trying to Install a profile wasn’t working.Here’s what I did to fix this:
1. Simply copy and paste your Profiles ICC to the OS folder;
WINDOWS: On windows is at: C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color.
MAC: On Mac I believe it can be located either HD/Library/ColorSync/Profiles or HD/Users/<username>/Library/ColorSync/Profiles. If you choose the first path you’ll be able to use for all users, but you have to be an admin for that. The other one goes to a specific user.2. Once profile files are there, just right click on the DisplayCal Profile Loader tray icon and click on “Profile Associations“;
3. Make sure the correct monitor is selected on the drop down bar, and on the bottom left, click on the ADD button;
4. Find your OS’s ICC profile folder and load the file you pasted there earlier;
5. Done!
