Hello There! First of all thanks to the developer for such opportunity to calibrate external monitors. For last 15h i was trying to calibrate using this tool and almost every things goes like in all tutorials and instruction that i found here on forum and error/support page. i’m using displaycal for creating 3d LUT for my resolve setup with Blackmagic deckling monitor.
I’m going thru all paragraph to set up this with resolve , like
- video 3d lut for resolve (d65, rec 709 / rec. 1886)
- display : resolve
- than i’m click connect to instrument
- correction: auto
- calibration – interactive display adjustment checked ( all values below i’m leaving like default
- profiling: meddium / high / low (many attempts with different combinations)
- testchart: auto-optimised
- about of patches (different values at all attempts)
- 3D LUT : rec 709, ITHU-R BT.709
- tone curve :rec. 1886
- rendering intent: absolute colorimetric….
- 3d lut file format : cube
- input 0-255 output 0-255
- 3d out size 65-65-65
- verifications: many options from spyder checker to test chart
THAN I’m connecting with RESOLVE and “interactive display adjustment window pop up after this i see only :
SETTING UP THE INSTRUMENT, please wait
and “start measurement and continue on to profiling ” buttons are grayed out
and here my story ends al the time and i can’t make any more step after this , its “setting up instrument for hours and nothing happened , resolve of course generate the grey square and this is it end of story.
i have tryied difrent usb 3.0 / 2.0
i have make calibration with spyder 5 vendor software and works ok
please help i just don’t knot what to do to resolve this issue.thanks in advance!
Luke

there should be a dialog “Please attach the instrument to the screen” that you must confirm.
2017-08-25 at 18:31 #8576Hey Florian Thanks for answer, there is nothing like you describe , when i’m clinging “connect to instrument” icon some dialog box appeared and load something and disappear. instrument is connected to usb 2.0/3.0 all the time i made calibration using vendor software and after that directly made displayCAL try and still the same results , i have tried this using Resolve LITE and STUDIO.
The same story.I was even trying make standard monitor calibration for mac and same story. after “setting up instruments” nothing ever happened i was waiting for almost an hour and was the same, but program did not “stuck” it was working because all dialog boxes “rub , etc” was clickable.
Any solution ?
maybe can You send me older version ? i got Yosemite 10.10.5thanks for help!
2017-08-30 at 0:35 #8623The process is always the same:
- Start DisplayCAL and Resolve.
- Select the “Video 3D LUT for Resolve” preset under settings in DisplayCAL.
- Click “Calibrate & profile”.
- A dialog box “Waiting for connection at IP:PORT” will appear.
- In Resolve, on the “Color” tab, choose “Calibration” -> “SpectraCAL CalMAN” from the “Workspace” menu.
- Enter IP and port from above, then click “Connect”.
- DisplayCAL will show the measurement window. Click “Start measurement”.
- DisplayCAL will show the interactive display adjustment window. A dialog box will appear “Place the instrument on the test window”. Do so and click OK.
If it doesn’t work, please attach logfiles (see the documentation).
