I am not very computer savvy but I really wanted to fix the color on my monitor for my prints.

I believe I set up DisplayCAL correctly. It can find my device and everything. When  I hit calibrate it starts up for about 3 seconds and then gives me the error code “Error-dispd->read returned error code 3”. I am trying to correct my dell s2817Q. My laptop is connected to a dell d3100 usb dock via usb 3 cord. The dock is connected to my monitor with HDMI.

I don’t know what other info you need from me but any help or push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

is the Spyder connected to the dock or to the laptop directly? Please attach the logfile (see documentation for logfile location).

Please attach (do not paste) a log after taking measurements with ArgyllCMS debugging output enabled (“Options” menu, advanced options). Thanks.

It seems there is no videoLUT access on your system (this may be related to the monitor being driven via USB3 through the dock and not an actual graphics card). In that case, calibration will not work.

Do you think there is anyway around this? Possibly connecting the monitor directly into my computer instead of through the dock?

    Thanks!

Connecting the monitor directly to an actual output of the graphics chipset (if possible) should work.
