I just installed my Blackmagic mini monitor PCI and all is up and running as it should.
External reference monitor is receiving Davinci Resolve signal via HDMI.
I’d now like to create a 3D Lut for Davinci Resolve using DisplayCal and my Spyder Calibrator.
I’ve gone through the steps, connected via IP address.
But…
Patch area is on my GUI monitor, not my reference monitor.
I am certain I am missing something absurdly easy here.
So…
How do I get the DisplayCal Patch display to appear on the external ref monitor?
Many thanks!
I forgot to mention that I have read the ‘3D LUT creation workflow for Resolve’ but was unable to see the process in which the external monitor (connected via BM mini monitor) will receive the DisplayCal patch to display.
Am I needing to connect my reference monitor to my PC first and create the 3D Lut that way?

It should be on both.

No, that would defeat the purpose of going through Resolve.
Leave the display connected to the mini-monitor output.
When you see the white measurement box/target on your computer display, click “measure”. A measuring target will also appear on your display connected to the mini-monitor output. Place the probe on the target on your mini-monitor display and then a new dialog box will appear on your computer monitor to begin the measurement process.
I was confused by this at first myself…

Thanks very much Bruce. Very helpful indeed 🙂
