    Hello

I am not new to color calibration but new to DisplayCal
I was just wondering what are the benefits of using the DisplayCal Profile loader (currently 3.6.2)?
(I tried the search before asking couldn’t really find myself in the search results)

    what I mean is,

    do I really need it?
does the profile not loaded by Win10 anyway?
Why does it say “calibration reapplied for 561 times so far today”? why so much? and what does it even means?

    Thank you

    Hi,

I was just wondering what are the benefits of using the DisplayCal Profile loader (currently 3.6.2)?

the Windows internal calibration loader always quantizes to 8 bits by integer truncating instead of rounding to nearest, which is less accurate and will introduce banding if the graphics card supports higher than 8 bit output. It also won’t re-apply the calibration, which means it can be lost when some other program or process clears it.

Why does it say “calibration reapplied for 561 times so far today”?

That’s just the count. It is no reason for concern.

You might want to add the bit about the amount of times the profile loader applies the profile to the FAQ. I was JUST about to ask that very question when I saw this post and decided to read it first.

    Thank you, That was clear

Another question just to complete the picture

on the right click menu under bit-depth:

    1. Is this the bit depth of the profile or the display or the GPU?
    2. according to what I should set it?

    My Specs are:

    • Display:
      Dell UP3216Q
      4K @ 60Hz
      10bit
      SDR
    • GPU:
      Nvidia Quadro P600

    Thank you

GPU. Set the same bitdepth here that you have set as output color depth in the nVidia control panel under desktop resolution.
