Hi. I have been using display cal for several years, with i believe very good results. I have learn a lot about it during all this time, and it have work very well. However now i have a problem. I update my system to majave 10.14.6. Previusly i was in 10.14.5 and previus versión without no major problem, but now i see quickly after update that my 2,2 gamma profiles for all my monitor no longer works as it would work, in fact, it lift the black level and broke the gamma. Do it again the profile produce the same results. I have a very good native monitor, calibration leave it almost perfect, without almost touch curves. But now, when i click profile info, i see the black leves altered, previsuly that not happen. I use single curve+ black point compensación, as is recommended for Mac. I tried with other software (spiyder x pro app) and is the same result. I believe that something in colorsync is broken in this version . I believe that 2,4 gamma profile works well, preupdate profiles and New profiles, but i am not sure. My question is if you know anything about this “bug” in this versión or if its another way to profile in Mac or in this versión, if you Know something about how manage now colorsync the profiles or what could be the problem, if it is realted to this versión. If it how to solve it or if newer versión (catalina) all works well. I need mojave 10.14.6 minimum for the New da vinci resolve update, i did not think in update until now, and i prefer no update to catalina because it no longer support 32 bit apps. Any help would be very welcome. Thank you in advance. And wonderful app do you give us!! Thank you!

Update: For what i can see gamma 2,4 profiles no longer works neither. The black level is too down without detail in shadow black áreas. Would i try with new settings or change something in Mac?

    Hi,

    I’m experiencing exactly the same.

If ever you’re still looking for information, this page confirms the diagnostic  : https://imagescience.com.au/blog/mac-icc-profile-issues-with-10-14-6

It seems that some parts of MacOs 10.14.6, including Preview, have some problems in managing some versions/”flavours” of ICC profiles. Looks like simple Gamma value is not interpreted correctly in the TRC tags : https://lists.apple.com/archives/colorsync-users/2019/Aug/msg00000.html

“Re-encoding the profile’s response curve as an array of points instead of a single “simple gamma” value seems to avoid the issue. However it was perfectly OK in previous macOS versions.”

I found indeed that profiles with “parametric” type of TRC tags are better managed.

For the moment, I haven’t recreated my profiles with DisplayCal, just used initial Xrite ones. They are not as good as those from DC, but at least they don’t lead to strange black areas.

To my sense, it’s clearly a bug in MacOS 10.14.6 or at least a regression.

    Hope it can help.
