Hi all,
I need your help. I went from a 1080p 24″ ASUS monitor (with excellent sRGB coverage) to an HP Z27. I’m aware that this monitor is not the best for its price but I bought it because it was on sale and HP says that the panels get extensively tested. If the marketing blurb is true one should be able to buy 2 monitors and get the EXACT same colors out of box.
There is a sRGB (D65) profile and a BT.709 (D65) profile. I don’t care for BT.709, only for sRGB.
If the profile is accurate the white point should be 6500K. Right? But the white point is so far off, it’s not even funny anymore:
How can the white point be off by almost 2000K?
When I use the interactive display adjustment I’m able to match the white point to 6500K (0.8 instead of 0.0). The best I’m able to achieve for the black point is 3.2. If I then go on, I only get an 88% sRGB coverage.
Is the panel faulty or did I miss something? I bought the monitor directly from HP and still am covered under warranty.
Monitor: HP Z27
Colorimeter: i1 Display Pro
Operating-System: Windows 10 (1809)
GPU: RTX 2070
CPU: I7-4771Thanks for any help!

Also include your colorimeter correction configuration:
-for LED sRGB displays: White LED IPS etc…
-for old widegamut LED: GBLED (U2413 correction)
-for WLED PFS AdobeRGB+P3 displays like in Z24x: WLED PFS phosphor Z24x
-for WLED PFS 95% P3 displays: Panasonic VVX17P051J00DisplayCAL configuration can be posted as an screenshot. You may want to loook to similar threads.
Also… is not unusual to see colder whites than D65 in those so called “factory calibrations”. It’s closer to native white, more contrast.
But that annoying 200:1 contrast ratio value seems like if you were driving that display on limited range over HDMI. Please check it. Or maybe you mess up with OSD controls too much, if that is happening then try a factory reset and then just lower brightness setting untill you find it confortable.2019-08-27 at 21:50 #19775Thanks for your response. I was able to fix it!
The problem was actually related to my HDMI cable. I need to use an HDMI cable for 4k Netflix. My monitor has an option for “full range RGB (0-255)” and an option for “limited range RGB (16-235)”. Normally full range is used for computer and limited range for TVs. I had it on Auto and my monitor did use “full range RGB (0-255)” like it should but Windows was using “limited range RGB 16-235)”. I had to change it in the Nvidia Control Panel under resolution.
Now everything is like it should be. I just have to get used to the more saturated picture xD.
Edit: Sorry for the double attachments.
