I’ve lately suspected that the calibration of my monitors isn’t right. They are not even close to each other.

After trying to recalibrate (didn’t help) I went back to basics to check if DisplayCal was working. (See my earlier post – How to verify if DisplayCal is doing anything ). Reseting & reactivating DisplayCal makes no change at all, hence it isn’t working.

How can I diagnise the problem?

FWIW the profile loader looks OK & says it has reloaded profiles X times today. I’m using Windows 10.

    Thanks

The information in the other thread still applies.

    Hi Florian,

    Thanks for replying.

In retrospect my original post was unclear. Let me try again:

    • My 2 monitors are visibly wrong
    • DisplayCal loader (in the tray) appears OK &  says it has reloaded profiles X times today
    • However turning the profile on & off (as described in the earlier thread) gives no change – ie on & off look the same – ie the calibration isn’t working

I assume the next step is to diagnose the cause of the problem. Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Regards

    • “Visibly wrong” means?
    • Checked profile associations? Is the correct profile assigned to each monitor?
    • Do the profiles have nonlinear calibration? (profile info, calibration curve graph)
    • Do you have the latest Windows updates (see 1903 sticky thread)?

    Hi Florian,

I’ve been trying to figure out exactly what you mean at points 2 & 3 + how to carry out those tests. (I’m just a photographer.) In the end I uninstalled DisplayCal & reinstalled it. Problem solved.

    Cheers

Right-click the profile loader tray icon, choose “Profile associations”. You can bring up profile information from there.
