Freezes with Catalina

I can’t find any information here on the freezing I am getting.

Display Cal opens normally then shows and RGB adjustment pane, then the screen goes grey  and then it  freezes with the grey covering the menubar. I can use other open windows but can’t use the menu or dock items. DisplayCal will not force quit. I need to hold the restart button to get out.

Then I receive the message in the screenshot below.
