    Hello,

my new Laptop with 500 nits seems to be bad, because DisplayCAL measures only 265.03 cd/m2 (nits). So I have to send the Laptop back. Today is the last day to return it… I want to verify, if I did something wrong. I am no photographer. I just want to have a bright and good display for working outside.

Do I read the report correctly? Does “White level” mean brightness? So max. brightness of the display is 265 nits? (Of course I have set brightness to 100% during testing. Laptop was at least 30 minutes on.)

    Report on uncalibrated display device:

    21:12:57,415 White Visual Daylight Temperature = 6985K, DE 2K to locus = 13.3
21:12:57,415 dispcal: Warning – Unable to determine effective Video LUT entry bit depth

I have bought a new SpyderX Pro. Latest DisplayCAL 3.8.9.3 is installed. Laptop is: Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen 2 UHD. Display-Type see screenshot.

    Can you help me, please?

That report shows CURRENT brightness of white. If you want to check if it gets to 500nit, you’ll have to use Fn + brightness up in laptop keyboard, then measure again.

Also some display technologies may apply some ABL or content aware auto dimming. You need to find if it is happening and disable it if you can.
Auto dimming usualli ys hidden in weird names in intel iGPU settings on MS Windows. Google it: <MANUFACTURER> <MODEL> disable autodimming, or <GPU MODEL> disable autodimming. That weird autodimming may limit display response with small measurement patch but overall dark content in the screen. ABL may work on the oposite way.

Thanks a lot! So I have tested correctly.

I have searched and tried several tutorials, also via regedit, but didn’t find anything. But thanks for your help!!
