Hello,
After de-installing accidentally and reinstall to 3.8.7.1-1.1 on Ubuntu Studio 19.04 program doesn’t launch anymore . Program is listed in applications and icon can be clicked but nothing happens. Any suggestions?
Thanks

2019-10-07 at 22:21 #20429Hi,
probably not reinstalled correctly. Open a terminal and enter
which displaycal
then try to run the output.
2019-10-07 at 22:26 #20430/usr/bin/displaycal
How do I run this output?

2019-10-08 at 13:13 #20442Just enter it.
2019-10-08 at 16:05 #20453It works!
But next problem: red bar doesn’t move during measurement and adjustment. Red level is already set to max. Also light blue (cyan?) dot in front of red bar is showing instead of red dot (see attachment)

Your display is likely already clipping the red channel. Reduce the red channel until you see the bar move again.

Are you sure you are using DisplayCAL 3.8.7.1?
2019-10-08 at 16:35 #20456How do I check the version in Linux and what’s the difference? (By the way, I’m a newbie in Linux)
Wait, I found the version: 3.7.1.4
Still, what’s the difference: did this version have a blue dot?

No, it had a glitch where it adjusted certain images for the system default theme background color where it wasn’t supposed to.
You seem to have remains of an old version installed. Open Ubuntu’s app store and search + remove DisplayCAL. Then, download the package of the current version from displaycal.net and install that.
2019-10-08 at 17:10 #20461Thanks, version 3.7.1.4 was installed by Linux through the software app.
It’s also clear what started these problems: initially I tried to update the original installed version in Ubuntu Studio 19.04 with the Mageia 7 version ( a .run file which I converted to a .deb file) instead of the one for Ubuntu 19.04 (Disco).
