    Hello.

I’m looking to buy a new PC laptop and run linux on it, profile the laptop display with DisplayCAL + Argyll.

Is there a hardware compatibility list somewhere that will list which graphics cards for laptops can be properly calibrated with Displaycal + argyll ?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Intel/AMD/nVidia (no particular order or preference) really all should work.

I think DisplayCAL does an excellent job for laptops. I too am wishing to but a new laptop running Linux.

The concern is,  some Nvidia cards don’t work in Linux. If I understand Mr. Hoch, the 3.3.3 version of DisplayCal should
work. Does that mean, should work as long as the Nvidia card is recognized ?

Also, I am using a laptop with an Nvidia card, but can’t get it recognized unless I install  the proprietary binary from Nvidia.
Should it work with or without the proprietary Nvida install… e.g. running the open source “nouveau” graphics driver.

System: Debian 9 64bit, Cinnamon or Mate.

    Thank you.

    Alma
