Is there any point recalibrating after changing the graphics card but keeping same monitor settings?
Just changing the graphics card doesn’t invalidate a previous profile, because it’s display-bound, not graphics adapter bound.
One caveat: above is true, except when your monitor is attached with a VGA cable. (Still the case in a lot of offices with lower end equipment, for instance.)
For VGA (analog) output, the graphics card has to perform the additional step of Digital-to-Analog-Conversion, which will yield slightly differing signals for the analog circuits in either graphics card. This will need to be taken into account in calibration.
(That’s the theory – any comment on how big of a difference this would actually make? In any case, I would simply take the time to reprofile.) 🙂
It’s been a long time (over a decade) since I’ve seen a VGA cable anywhere in my line of work, but yes. The connection has to be digital, otherwise the cable can influence the signal.
