Calibrite vs DisplayCAL software

I ordered a Dell U2723QE and Calibrite Display  PLUS.

Now I am watching videos on the Calibrite and it looks like I don’t need DisplayCAL software.

Is there any difference in “accuracy” between the Calibrite vs DisplayCAL software?

Depending on configuration and the severity of the issues in grey ramp of your monitor, YES.
Also Xrite LUT loader is prone to cause banding even on AMD GPUs due to LUT truncation. You can use Calibrite software, disable their LUT loader and use DisplayCAL’s.

Regarding Xrite/Calibrite equivalences in configuration:

-Colorimeter Correction DisplayCAL vs Xrite:
White LED – White LED
W-LED PFS 94% Panasonic VVX – “PFS phosphor”
W-LED PFS AdobeRGB & P3 HPZ24x –  Unssupported by ccProfiler
W-LED PFS  Apple P3 displays –  Unssupported by ccProfiler
QLED –  Unssupported by ccProfiler
WOLED –  Unssupported by ccProfiler
(there are older backlight types, but these are the common ones nowadays)

-Profile type DisplayCAL vs Xrite:
Matrix 1 curve – matrix (RECOMMENDED if your Display is well behaved)
XYZLUT – table
(there are mor options in DisplayCAL but these are the most common)

-Grey calibration quality (the worse the uncalibrated grey is, the slower speed is needed = more patches)
very fast(12) –  Unssupported by ccProfiler
fast(24) – ccProfiler configuration
medium(48) –  Unssupported by ccProfiler
slow(96) –  Unssupported by ccProfiler

Also Xrite/Calibrite uniformity check or profile validation is a joke. You can calibrate with ccProfiler but validate with DisplayCAL.
It is RECOMMENDED to validate calibration results with DisplayCAL no matter which software you use to calibrate with.

Also keep in mind that Xrite profiles store whitepoint as PCS white (D50) and uses a CHromatic ADaptation (CHAD tag) in ICC profile to store actual white information. So if you plan to make LUT3D with ccProfler ICC profiles you may need to change recommeded configuration.
