I know the Spyder3 is obsolete, but it still works together with DisplayCAL, but it seems it can’t read the black luminance properly. After calibration I usually get about 650:1 as the contrast (with a VA panel that is rated to 4000:1).
In DisplayCAL there is a possibility to type a custom value for the black level before starting the calibration, but it doesn’t seem to do anything.
I guess I could just use the interactive part and adjust the chosen whitepoint and luminance of my screen, and then exit right away. Without creating any ICC files?
