    Hey all, I’m pretty new to the colour calibration scene and I’ve been trying to calibrate my LG 27GL850 for a while now. The tool I’m using is Datacolor SpyderX.
    On paper, 27GL850 is rated 98% DCI-P3. In this case, SpyderX provides several instrument modes:

    • Generic
    • White LED
    • PFS Phosphor WLED/RGB LED
    • Gb-r-LED

    After a couple of researches it seems like PFS Phosphor WLED is the choice since it tailors from near DCI-P3 coverage but not AdobeRGB.
    To get accurate results in a monitor, I set the white point to 6500K, a custom white level to compensate with my bright room and a Gamma 2.2 tone curve typical for monitor.
    After calibration DisplayCAL reports around 95.8% DCI-P3 which is pretty much in-line with several reviews out there.

    However, here comes the confusion — I am not sure of how to verify the accuracy of the newly created ICC profile.
    I enable simulation profile and select DCI-P3/SMPTE-431-2 D65 colour profile as the simulation profile, then check “Use simulation profile as display profile” and set the tone curve to Gamma 2.2.

    The result is pretty unexpected, as it’s showing a rather high ΔE 2000 average and high max ΔE 2000, which is beyond the recommended delta values:

    After re-calibration it’s almost the same value until I fiddled around and uncheck “Use simulation profile as display profile” and run the verification again. This time it shows these results instead:

    Which one is actually the accurate one?
    What’s the difference between checking and unchecking that section? It seems like checking “Use simulation profile as display profile” would show a new section called device-link profile.

    If you want to verify the uncalibrated/unprofiled display, enable “use simulation profile as display profile”.

    If you want to verify the calibrated/profiled display, disable “use simulation profile as display profile” (and/or disable simulation profile entirely).
