I just found this site a couple of days ago in my search for a method to calibrate my Cinema Display. I ran into the issue of not being able to manually adjust the colors when I first attempted to use Display Cal, and see that this subject is listed in the Frequently Asked Questions. My question then, is there some way other than using the Display settings in the Mac System Preferences to calibrate my monitor? I’m just a hobbyist, but would like to get the best possible images on my display.
You can (and should) skip interactive adjustment if the monitor doesn’t offer (hardware) controls.
Florian, thanks for getting back to me on this, t hough I am not quite clear on what is meant by “interactive adjustment.” Does this refer to skipping the step that calls for adjusting R, G, & B, or are you saying that I should not try using DisplayCAL at all?
There’s a checkbox on the calibration tab, or you can skip it on the adjustment window itself.
