    Hello,

apart from office and audio software I’m mostly using my PC for Netflix -etc. streaming or Blu-ray playback. I profiled my Display using DisplayCal 3.3.5 to the default tone curve “Gamma 2.2”. Somewhere I read that for movie viewing etc it is better to profile to gamma 2.4 for better contrast.

Did I read it right and gamma 2.4 is the better tone curve for movie viewing?

The standardized tone curve for BT.709 (HD) video material is BT.1886. You also may want to look into madVR.

That’s fine: Recently I’ve installed Media Player Classic BE and MadVR as a VLC replacement.

So I’ll give the BT1886 curve a try.

    Thank you:-)

You don’t even have to run new measurements to create a 3D LUT, you can use the existing profile 🙂
