Hi, I love glossy monitors, which are hard to get, but Iiyama builds them from, so it seems,  second choice Imac displays. However beloved Retina-like PROLITE XB2779QQS-S1 is out of the box poor in color accuracy, as measured by HardwareInfo. So I went on he trail of calibration with a Spyder5.  My results are… not so great. I used generic LCD and also Wide gamut LCD and the results were worse.  Also I implemented the correction  suggested by PhotographyLife, still way off the track :-(.

    Any ideas / experiences?

    Hi,

you’re not actually using color management in your test. Uncheck “Use simulation profile as display profile”.

That makes a difference, thanks! Greyscale is not perfect but acceptable, I will try a run with more patches later.

I’m curious if you can make the greyscale balance better.

I’m curious if you can make the greyscale balance better.

Even though the measurements were much better, and also the greyscale looked better, but not great. I went to buy a 1Display Pro and it looked the same, not so great. Then I uninstalled everything and worked with the x-rite software, which gave a more satisfying result.

Do you also have the ‘retina’ Iiyama? It’s a beautiful screen but not easy to calibrate…
