Hello everybody.
I am changing my display and i want to buy an eizo cs2420.
Which probe do you recommend to buy to use it with color navigator 7? I mean can I buy a spyderx pro or an eizo ex4 which cost much less than the color checker diplay, or even with the color navigator software would I have problems finding the correction files and the like?
SpyderX Pro on Amazon
Disclosure: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.2022-03-19 at 10:15 #34796I mean: I know that I will have problems using spyderx or ex4 with dispcal in finding valid correction files, however with CN spyderx or ex4 they work well or will I have problems as I read happens with i1display with which the EDR file must be replaced within the CN? And, in case, the new color checker display will work togheter CN or i need color checker pro?

I searched online and did not find much except a discussion on an Italian forum (https://www.juzaphoto.com/topic2.php?l=it&t=3457439&show=1) where the comparison between the datacolor and xrite probes does not show great differences for not too advanced monitors, even if clearly xrite is better. Seeing what happened in Mindas 3d (https://hub.displaycal.net/forums/topic/confusion-calibrating-cs2731/) I was wondering if the same is true for the datacolor probes, that is, if CN7 does not contain the right correction files for the new types of panels installed on the eizo diplays, also because if eizo refuses to recognize the fact that there are 2 types of panels may not have updated CN7. so if there wasn’t the right correction file, you couldn’t even get around this as Mindas did for the i1pro, right?
2022-03-21 at 12:43 #34802Ok i decided, as datacolor does not provide the spectral sensitivities of their filters , making impossible to create portable correction files, i will buy a calibrite colochecker display pro and then divorce, as my wife sees monitors at the mall bigger than mine at 150 €.

2022-03-21 at 14:52 #34806I know that the plus version is for brighter displays: are there other differences between the pro and plus version?
I would have the opportunity to take an xrite i1 display plus probe, is this better for me or the newest calibrite? I know they are the same I only ask because I am afraid that the old xrite will no longer be supported; are xrite probes compatible with the new calibrated software?
2022-03-21 at 19:42 #34815The Plus version supports brighter displays (2000 nits vs 1000 nits) and the BT 1886 gamma curve. It’s also more sensitive:
The Calibrite ColorChecker Display Plus is just a rebrand of the X-Rite i1 Display Pro Plus, not a new device. Similarily, CC Profiler is just a rebranded version of i1 Profiler:

Hi Kuba, what do you mean, when you say only the PLUS supports the BT 1886 gamma curve? Is this a software or a hardware thing?
I use the old i1 Display Pro with DisplayCal and already made LUTS with the BT 1886 curve. Are they wrong?
2022-03-31 at 23:02 #34968BT 1886 support is an added feature of X-Rite/Calibrite’s software when using the Plus. Since the hardware is essentially the same the higher end features is in the software. These company’s are really just selling you expensive software with more features the more you pay that is locked to the key on the hardware.
Hardware-wise the Display is firmware limited to 1 measurement per second but otherwise the same, and the Pro and Plus are the same just the Plus has been verified to read up to 2000 nits. I haven’t seen anything to suggest that the Pro isn’t capable of reading that high brightness or is firmware limited to 1000 nits. Seems that they’re just testing the Plus’s to make sure they can read 2000 nits.
