Can you tell me, does profiling actually adjust the hue, saturation and luminance of each color patch?
Also, can using too many color patches reduce color saturation but still do well in a verification report, (xxxl)? … (My images seem to look better or punchier when I use fewer patches 1000 vs. 3-4000)

Profiling does not adjust anything, it just records what the instrument measures.

Are the hue saturation and luminance altered by way of the created profile?
Can color saturation be reduced in the end by using more patches?

If more patches result in a more accurate profile, and colors reproduced more accurately happen to be less saturated than when reproduced less accurately, then yes.
