False positive? I have DisplayCAL 3.1 installed. Windows Defender has detected Trojan:Win32/Varpes.L!plock Items: DispCAL-apply-profiles.exe DisplayCAL Profile Loader.Ink DisplayCAL Profile Loader.Ink

  1. Seems to be a false positive (although on my test systems windows Defender doesn’t detect anything). VirusTotal scan result: https://www.virustotal.com/de/file/9d4024b9ce9e56f97df66a83d671e3fb7d8dc9ee65e7906a2e84e8094da3ebee/analysis/1456222656/

    Keep in mind though that the executable in your case could have been compromised by an infection that may have already existed on your system. I would boot from a clean medium and scan your whole system with an AV scanner just to be on the safe side.

  2. Yesterday night I did a full scan using Windows Defender and it didn’t find anything else…I figured if Windows Defender was the one to find it, and it was truly malware there should be other examples, right?

    Anyways, I’ll reinstall DisplayCal and report back whatever happens.
