Latest version of dispcalgui on GNU/Debian sid. I’m using a ColorMunki and the calibration process always ends with an error. The profile is not created. Long time ago I was able to create a profil on this machine. Any idea about what could be causing this issue? I have attached the log. See last 50 lines or so where is error message is displayed (here is a copy):

  1. Argyll CMS fails to access the instrument. This might be an intermittent USB problem. Are you using the original ColorMunki USB cable? Is it connected to an USB 2.0 or 3.0 port?

  2. I’m using the original cable and I have tested on a 2.0 and 3.0 port. Same problem.

I see in the log that for the dispcal process there is the same error reported (early in the log, at “2016-02-29 19:40:12,222”. Then the dispcal process is restarted a second time and all this fine. Maybe this should be done with dispread too? Just wild guess…

Thanks a lot for your support!

  3. Just a note, I’m a developer so do not hesitate to ask me testing patches or whatever. I’m ok with that if it can help.

  4. I think the issue is fixed in the current development version of Argyll CMS (see its log.txt file), which is available for download (source only) from the Argyll CMS website.

  5. Indeed!

    * Make ColorMunki spectro do “reset on close” on Linux
to avoid USB problem every second time it is opened.

This really looks like the issue I’m facing. Thanks a lot for the support, I’ll either wait or try to build from sources if I get some time.

  6. Ok, I have built latest version of ArgII CMS and all is fine now. I have been able to calibrate my screen. This ticket can be closed. Thanks a lot!

  7. Experiencing the issue on Fedora 24  & colormunki photo

    Name: argyllcms Distribution: Fedora Project
    Version: 1.8.3 Vendor: Fedora Project
    Release: 2.fc24 Build date: Wed Feb 3 18:11:30 2016

Is this argyllcms version impacted?  Fedora 25 seems to include the same version

  8. I have now experienced the same error with Win 10 Pro x64 and ColorMunki Display. The setup worked a month ago, but it is not working now. I updated DisplayCAL (to 3.2.1) prior to the error, but I have understood it is Argyll CMS issue in any case. I have changed to a newer graphics card since the previous time I used DisplayCAL, but I’d doubt that has much to do with munki and USB ports (?).  X-Rite software runs fine and I was able to calibrate using that.

Some logs attached when trying to run Calibrate & profile. Just running Measurement report ends in similar error (dispread: Error – new_disprd() failed with ‘Instrument Access Failed), but a smaller log is produced without much details.
