I recently connected my laptop to my Sony TV so I can play videos (from within Firefox). The built-in laptop screen was cal’d with DisplayCal previously. I was thinking that wouldn’t affect the HDMI output, but apparently it does. When I dug into the settings, my display device was shown properly in Windows (as my Sony TV). However, it had the laptop’s screen profile associated with it. I manually set it to the standard sRGB IEC 61966-2-1 profile, and that seems to look good (since my TV is already calibrated). Is this the correct way to handle things?
Also, should I leave the “automatically fix profile associations” box checked?
Thanks!!
Standard is probably good. A calibration would scan its colorspace and set the profile for the tv. Even a scan without correction would do a profile for the tv. A scan with would fix any video card adjustments to its video output needed to match the tv input. One output of a device should match a input of device if they are digital but the parts inside getting too digital are off sometimes.
Thanks, sounds good! I may try to run a calibration at some point, but TBH, it looks pretty good as is.
