i want to calibrate some monitors but i don’t know what colorimeter / monitor calibration probe to buy and i saw that Datacolor SpyderExpressthat looks with good price for hardware but software have some limitation, mainly i notice because of the max 3 monitors.
using chatgpt i read that it is not compatible with DisplayCAL and work with that just using some drivers but there could be some limitation.
SpyderExpress has software limitations imposed by Datacolor, so DisplayCAL can only be used via alternative drivers (ArgyllCMS) and with some features reduced compared to higher-end models.
so i’m waiting any advice about:
- the product compatible with that opensource software that i would like to use.
- any advice about what alternative hardware there could be in the same range price with more benefits and compatible with that software ?

On the other hand, the i1 Display Pro is an accurate instrument that uses external spectral corrections (.EDR/.CCSS), which makes it futureproof: when a new type od display is released, all you have to do is create a spectral correction file with a spectrophotometer or a spectroradiometer.

en the lesser brothers (no compatible with Xrite SDK for use with monitor vendor HW calibration: coormunki display / calibrite display SL
All of them are i1d3 variants and all will be threated equally by displayCAL (anthough lesser brothers maybe slower)

is that model “Calibrite Display Pro HL” capable of making also these measurements or do you need another instrument ?
Because to me looks a bit complicated use display CAL while the other product looks more easy to use.
is that one “Datacolor SpyderExpress” with dichroic filters?
