    Hello,

    I’m trying to achieve the age old goal of color matching two monitors.

    However, even after trying a couple of times something as basic as the white balance is very clearly off.

    I started with my monitor that I know is pretty capable (DELL UP2516D). With srgb settings in displaycal I did a calibration. Afterwards I did a measurement report and inserted the measured luminance and whitepoint as calibration settings for my second monitor (P27h-30). I went through calibration and did a another measurement report. Those reports side by side are veeeery close. Still, they are visually pretty obviously off. Is there something I forgot or that I’m not understanding? Both monitors are capable of displaying srgb almost perfectly (99,9% to 99% respectively) although I doubt getting accurate whitebalance should be that difficult even on budget monitors.

    I attached a phone images, which obviously isn’t exactly what I see but it is in stark contrast to my measurements (done in a dark room with a i1 DisplayPro).

    Hope someone can steer me into the right direction.

    It’s a pretty common topic if you had searched before a opening new thread. Answer is always the same:

    -Choose the whitest one (visually), thsi will be your reference
    -On the least white on calibration tab, whitepoint, coordinates choose visual whitepoint editor and mathc visually the least white to the whiter. Calibrate & profile…
    -Do not use absolute colorimetric LUT3D with the visually matched one, at least if you use std profiles like sRGB / Rec709, or visual whitepont matching will be undone

    Thanks. I actually read though a couple of threads but they weren’t completely clear to me. Visually matching WB when I have specific hardware for that (that also tells me its correct) feels very counterintuitive.

    With your instructions I got closer (not quite perfect unfortunately) and I also realized the edges have color casts so it was pretty over the thumb put it’s acceptable now.

    Is there hardware that can do monitor matching by itself without relying on visuals?

    The LUT3D option was and is completely greyed out for me that I can’t even change something in there.

    when this happens:
    -your measurement device, by resolution, inaccuracy or lack of proper colorimeter correction cannot read accurately one or both screens
    OR (not exclusive)
    -your visual system is a (small) outlier of stadnard observer CIE 1931 2degree o even with lab grade equipment, visually won’t match to you.

    usually is the first one but second is common too
