In September 2019, I had the opportunity to measure an iMac 27 Retina display at the university where I teach Photoshop using DisplayCAL and an i1Pro. See attached screenshot for results… As can be seen, the “difference” between Apple’s “Standard” and the iMac27 screen was quite “small”… To the point that, as I said to my students, was a full-blown custom calibration/profile warranted? At least, for the time being. Who knows how long that excellent behavior is going to last? Perhaps after a year or two…

My question is of a similar nature. I spent time researching the MBpro XDR LR “calibration and profiling” available on the web and in most instances, people use their instrument to measure the machine’s white point and enter the measured chromaticities in Apple’s Display > Customize dialog. So far, so good, except that in all the “D65” instances I have seen, people enter x = 0.3127 in the “desired” field and “measured” = 0.312?
Same story for the y chromaticities…

At which point, you have to wonder : what is the point of forcing the “same” out of the system?

Have anybody ever bothered to measure these displays in their “ColorLCD” format?

I am going over my notes but I don’t have the $$$ to buy one of these machines nor do I know anyone I could borrow one from, to experiment with.

I searched the Forum > General discussion but could not find anything…
