So I bought the calibration tool for my LG monitor as I wanted to be able to get a better color calibration as doing the HDR calibration in game menus always seemed to be impossible to get the color correct… Although it seems that the LG software has no HDR support and from the research I’ve done so far there doesn’t seem to be any way to get the color calibrator to work with any other program. I did see one patch that is supposed to be used on Argyll 1.8.3, but it doesn’t seem possible to download that version and even if it was possible to download it the patch was only tested using a linux system rather than windows. So basically I’m wondering if anyone knows of any way to get this color calibrator to work or confirm for me that it’s not possible and to look into finding another calibrator that can work with hopefully a recommendation for one that’s not too expensive.

Regarding support ask in ArgyllCMS because it may be a rebranded spyder or calibrite’s.

Where do I go to an in ArgyllCMS?

Calibrite Display Pro HL on Amazon

Would something like the spyder 2 or 3 work for my needs? This is the monitor I’m using now that I want to calibrate…

Also can it even be calibrated for HDR use?

Try to provide de USB’s device ID from Windows device manager:find your device, properties, details and then Hardware ID on combo. It may be easy to find if it’s a known device by other name or if it’s an LG device unknown for non LG sftware.

Try 2nd hand, maybe you find something in 100-150 euro range

paperweight with filters that degrade, yours (current) “may” be way better, although maybe limited by the colorimeter corrections it can use-

It’s and SDR display… although ic can accept HDR signal (rec2020 PQ) that it will convert to RGB numbers in the SDR window contrast and native gamut.
Like a software video player when you open an HDR video and it outputs SDR equivalent “cutting” or “rolling off” pas some nits. These displays are called “fake HDR”, since they accept HDR signal but their panels + backlight are SDR (although maybe widegamut).
HDR (input) to SDR panel consversion is written on firmware and you cannot modify it. Avoid using ist HDR at all and if you want to play HDR movies since display is actually SDR use a good software HDR to SDR conversor with full SDR calibration like madVR.
