I can’t seem to find an answer to this question on the forum so here goes.
When I end “calibrate and profile ” I get the dialogue box to install, but this doesn’t seem to end. I have to go to end the process to quit DisplayCal. The process has loaded to my colour management, but I have to add it and the set it as default for it to work. Any suggestions.
Incidentally I have to log in the DisplayCal and run as admin for it to work. I am guessing that these are Windows 11 foibles?
2024-08-01 at 2:21 #141604It is not the new display cal ? DisplayCal 3.8.9.3 should work on windows 11. I will find out in a few weeks. I have windows 10 and had to reinstall from scratch but it kept my windows.old so I did not lose data but lost all the programs being installed. Good time for spring cleaning. Maybe your pc needs cleaning. Or your memory or cpu or gpu is overclocked. My new cpu was over powered and had to fix it with bios. The power supply was incompatible too using a molex to 4 pin adapter.
Your answer is going to be technical to fix it. It is something technical with your system. Can not fix it without trying things and testing. We have no specifications of the system either to diagnose it. Guesing your not technical.
2024-10-15 at 18:06 #142039The PC has been regularly cleaned , but I am not ready to do another W11 clean install just yet. I am not sure what you mean regarding the overclocking. I have just checked the installation of my matched 32 GB Ram and with the recommendations from kingston set the bios to operate at the correct speed for the ram instead of being “Underclocked”??? That is the limit of my technical knowledge. I accept that this may be a windows problem and I have checked all the permissions and they are now all set to “All Users” but the install profile still hangs. DisplayCal saves the new profile in the right place, but I have to use Task Manager to switch out of DisplayCal and then use colour management to add and set the new profiles as default.
2024-10-15 at 19:12 #142040AFAIK there is no need for DisplayCAL to run as admin on W11
IDNK what you did in your system so with these uncertainties I would completely uninstall DisplayCAL (make sure there is no schedulle task with profile loader) it and use zipped portable DisplayCAL 3.8.9.3 with zipped ArgyllCMS.
Just unzip each one in a folder in C:\calibration or something like that.
Go to old control panel, color management make sure that on las tab you do not use Windows Calibration (locked checkbox, uncheck it with admin privileged if “use windows calibration” checkbox is enabled.
Now run again DisplayCAL and make sure you use DIsplayCAL loader radio button instead of windows loader for grey calibration.-

2024-10-15 at 19:23 #142042Thanks Vincent, will try that. My one concern is that my anti-virus and security software (Comodo) seem to pick up both Argyll and DisplayCal on initial install. This is dispite having an exception on both folders in Comodo. Will need to investigate this and stop it happening.

Re-installed DisplayCal after creating exceptions for DisplayCal and Argyll folders in the anti-virus. All working fine. Can’t work out why this worked as I went through the same steps before, but doesn’t matter it’s fixed.
