How to use Visual Whitepoint?

I read through a lot of the other threads and still not 100% what I am supposed to do.

Here is my situation.  I have a laptop and an external monitor.  Both using DisplayCal to calibrate and profile.  Obviously the laptop has no whitepoint control.

Am I supposed to move the Visual Whitepoint dialogue box to the display I want to match?  and click on something?  <confused>

Visual whitepoint is used for correctiung white when device+correction is not accurate or std observer curves does not match your visual system or both.

Laptop whitepoint, assuming accueate device and no observer metameric failure is corrected by GPU liek any other grey. It will drop contrast & max brightness so it is advised for not so severe errors. For example 8dE top D65 is  to correct easy without heavy loss.
Just set D65 as target and ignore RGB bars for white, it will be corrected in GPU. Set brightness as measured in target, just correct white by GPU.

If after calibration white does not match another white by huge difference, then you can try visual whitepoint.

I am asking how to actually use the visual whitepoint… I see a color wheel but I am not sure what I am supposed to do.  Are there how to instructions somewhere?

My laptop panel is warmer than the external screen after both been profile for sRGB D65 2.2

Move sliders till big white patch matches the other display. It’s a visual match so do not expect RGB bars assistant like when you try to do a numericam match to some coordinates.

okay am I supposed to put the Visual Whitepoint window on the laptop or the external.  i assume it is the laptop since there are no RGB control.  Once I get close enough do I start the calibration and profiling again?
