Help with calibration – new user

Hey there,

I recently bought a colormunki display and used displaycal to calibrate my early-2015 macbook pro screen using a ccmx profile downloaded from the display cal database. This worked really well and the screen is calibrated correctly.

I also recently bought a monitor (Cooler Master GM32-FQ IPS) and tried to calibrate it using the “WLED Phosphor” ccss profile since there are no cooler master ccmx or ccss profiles in the online database.

However, I always end up with a noticeable red tint across my image after the calibration is complete. I have tried about 15-20 different calibrations playing around with the settings of calibration and sometimes I can fix the white point, using the visual white point editor – but the oranges and other colours still appear far too red. I can mostly fix the colour cast using my monitors hue settings, changing the hue of the red to appear more orange, but shouldn’t my monitor just end up calibrated correctly after using display cal without having to visually adjust it afterwards? (I can never visually get it 100% correct).

I’ve attached a measurement report and the display calibration folder if that helps. I also found a ccss file from a similar monitor (LG Ultragear 32″) for the colormunki, but that still produces a red tint. I have dual boot windows and mac on my macbook, and I noticed that when connecting the monitor to my windows startup, it too produces a red tint in the whites in the standard picture mode.

It has got several problems.    Your hardware is running in gamma 2.2 .    Your 1 curve matrix profile is not in the measurement report.   You should install the profile.    The report measure rec 2020 but your display is not rec 2020.    P3 color space would be wanted for HDR.   Your monitor should have SDR mode and HDR mode.   SDR mode would be the simple one to calibrate.     Verify to rec 709 and get those colors checked.  Then HDR would be next to check.    I guess I can quot Toms Hardware.  https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cooler-master-gm32-fq-qhg-review    .    “The GM32-FQ is one of the rare displays that comes calibrated to perfection out of the box. I think HCFR would be better if you want to tweak the colors using its 6 axis color control.   It will need very little adjusting.   You can use it to check what controls are doing.    7500k color temperature should be fixed with displaycal  but in HCFR you could lower the blue or red to get closer 6500k.
