Hi
I am running ubuntu 24.04.2lts on a recent platform. I have installed DisplayCAL from the download center. No problem, runs properly but does not detect my spyder.
The probe itself works properly on my macbook with the vendor application.
I have checked it is detected using lsusb. OK. I have read the documents and cheched that /etc/udev/rules.d is existing.
I have changed the user group: sudo usermod -a -G colord $USER
Of course, I have stopped and reboot the machine. No effect.
Any suggestions to investigate the problem.
Thank you.2025-03-28 at 18:42 #143356I’m right now using my clairvoyance skill on my crystal ball to guess what kind of “spyder” is that you speak of.
Maybe it’s labeled “Spyder <something>” and you can check on ArgyllCMS web, documentation, instruments section about particular instrument support before buying.2025-03-28 at 22:38 #143360I know that the documents refer to spyder 1/2/3… But on my product nothing more than spyder. I can only say that it should be the latest version as I bought it a few days ago. But in fact, I don’t have the information.
2025-05-13 at 8:05 #143490I have the same issue. My colorimeter is SpyderPro. Is it still not supported?
2025-05-14 at 22:34 #143504Spyder (2024) and SpyderPro (2024) are not supported yet by ArgyllCMS drivers yet, which means displayCAL will not detect it. You can see the supported devices here – https://www.argyllcms.com/doc/instruments.html
You should return the datacolor and get yourself a calibrite i1d3 sensor based colorimeter. Spyders are hardware locked anyways and no point using them with displayCAL, since you will not be able to use them with any future spectral corrections.

There is a new spyder. https://www.datacolor.com/spyder/ I think the original poster has that. Just spyder on it. The author of argyii needs money to support it. He needs the hardware to test it. Contact the developer.
