    Hello,

Somehow I could not log in here to post, is ok now.

I sent an email to Florian, asleep now I'm sure, hope mailman doesn't wake him.

     Post:Hello,

I've been test driving DispcalGUI on a laptop with w7 and had no problems.

I tried it on my W& desktop, and it ran once in the shortest calibration and finished ok in all respects.

Last night I set it for maximum quality and let it run overnight. In the morning it had hung with the main window,
and the “wrapping up” window, orange fire ring etc. both saying ‘not responding.

Thinking screen saver or something I tried it again, attending to it to make sure of no screensavers on.

    Same problem as above.

Scrolling through the DispalGUI.log showed an apparently complete calibration, but it could not generate a report.

An error showed at the end of both long runs.

    Here is the tail end:

    Thanks in advance,

P.S. Notice my monitor calibrated during the short cal looks ok, but in lightroom photos oversaturated compared to printing.

I know, lots to take care of, is why I bought the Spyder 5.

I also own the Sencore cp5000 from my years in ISF calibration, and a reference b&w broadcast Sony monitor.

    Hi,

    > LOOKS LIKE THE PROBLEM HERE****
2015-12-15 15:41:29,296 Connection to 127.0.0.1:15411 failed: [Errno 10061] No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it

No, that’s harmless. After an unexpected exit, the lock file will still be around and DCG will try to connect to the local port stored in the file to determine if there is still an instance running. In case it’s no longer running, this connection attempt fails, but that is expected.

There’s no output from that run after this line, which is odd. How much memory does the machine have? Did you get a “This computer is low on memory, close program(s) to prevent information loss” message from Windows, by any chance?

    Thanks for quick reply.

I have Intel core 2 cpu 6600 2.4GHZ and 3.5GB of memory. I wasn’t running anything else at the time.
I haven’t tried to run the short version of DispcalGUI again, that worked first time, but I haven’t changed anything either.

Other questions while I have your attention:

    1. If I get DispcalGUI running on my Linux box, (PCLinuxOS) can I just drop the profile into Windows 7 somewhere?
    2. Can I drop a successful Windows 7 profile into my Linux box?
    3. Can I also share it to an Imac Intel with Mavericks or Yosemite I have kicking around.
    4. I’d like to share a high end monitor between all three some day.
    5. I run a Mythbuntu DVR on my panasonic ZT60 plasma and DispcalGUI is in its repos, and I’d like to also use it as a monitor with above machines.

If the machines are connected to the same display, and it’s a digital connection, sharing the profile should be fine.

Sure, but I recommend the latest version of dispcalGUI, what’s in the Mythbuntu repos seems very outdated (1.7.1.6 is almost two years old now).

    3.5GB of memory

Hmm, that’s a little on the low side. Make sure you have a big enough page file.
