Hey guys,
Was recommended to grab a Colourbrite ColorChecker instead of using my spyder with display cal for oled calibration. Is it fine that it comes up with i1 Display / Colourmunki and only 2 options, LCD Generic and Generic Refresh, no OLED options. I’m more confident wanting to use displayCal and not Profiller, but should I use that in conjunction with this or no? Sorry for noob questions…
Edit also, when I did try and use the Profiller, I cannot for the life of me get the initial contrast settings right. It’s either below or sky high with one point of contrast adjustment on my monitor… Seen threads about it and no one seems to know what to do about it lol.

2025-09-19 at 22:49 #144682Take the time to find a guide on DisplayCal. Displaycal documentation is very thorough. We need a lot of detail to find your spectral correction and know what you have done. Just practice for a while and follow a guide. All you do is a set a correction and set correction and profile settings. Defaults are good. Change if you know they are wrong. It is a lot up to user to decide how to make it work with there needs.
Your contrast should be on default. Displaycal calibration will prevent clipping. You probable need to adjust backlight to match the nits you picked. As measured works and changeing backlight does not mess up calibration of colors. Verification is all relative to max brightness. Few softwares need to know the nit value of the screen from inside the profile. You can use it to see how the panel drifts if you do not change your settings.
You need to set the correction to the LED in the your panel. Almost all panel are LED. In the display and instrument page go to correction and choose. I am not used to OLED. The globe takes you the web database of user corrections. Tools at the top and drop down to corrections will let you click on import correction from other devices. It will guide to get the same correction as the software from the device. They both work the same.

i1d3 has no built in modes, that’s the reason they are updateable. Corrections are on software.
Tools menu corrections import i1Profiler pack, this pack has the corrections for usual displays. If your’s is different search in colorimeter database https://colorimetercorrections.displaycal.net/ or maybe AVSFourm if it’s a TV or buy/rent/borrow an spectrophotometer to make a custom one.W-OLED panels are different than RGB OLED panels so DO NOT use OLED correction for consumer WOLED monitors. use a W-OLED TV correction instead.
