I inherited a Datacolor Spyder 3 Pro, which has the photo cube and printer reading spectrometer along with the device for calibrating screens. I use displaycal with the latter every month, and it works great. But is there a version, or even another software that allows us to print and create an icc reference file for a particular file?

The spyder software (which no longer activates) would create a profile so you can see what a design would look like from an ink set from a particular color, and switch between profiles so you can see what a print might look like with one one white channel activated, or what it looks like when printed on metal instead of paper (something one of our printers can do).

Or am I missing this built into the displaycal software?

    You aren’t.

DisplayCAL has no printer profiling capabilities.

    Try contacting Datacolor’s customer support.

Sorry, been a while and not sure why I had not replied.

I use the data color screen sensor that was part of the kit to calibrate my screens with displaycal, as recently as last week. that hardware still works great. Just hoping I might be able to get use out of the other hardware which should still function if not for software compatibility.  I am not a fan of throwing out perfectly functioning hardware.

    Thanks for the reply.

It is unlikely that it worked properly in 2021 on the first post and less likely to work properly now due to the degrading filter material in colorimeter. It was useless back in 2021 and t is now.

Renew for some xrite i1d3 model. Right now is the only device future proof in this sub 1000 euro range. Colormunki display/ calibrite SL won’t be supported for monitor vendor HW calibration solutions, they are cheaper but at a cost. i1d3 pro / HL models are recommended since these days monitors with HW calibration in consumer markets are more common,
