I recently picked up a Blackmagic Micro Converter 12G in hopes of using it as a calibration LUT box for my LG C1, but I can’t seem to get the LUT to behave correctly once loaded onto the converter.
When I load any LUT into the converter there is extremely obvious black level clipping. My first thought is that this is a legal/full range issue, however exporting both a full range and legal LUT from Displaycal produces similar clipping.
So far I’ve tried both 17x17x17 and 33x33x33 LUTs, exporting the LUT as full range and legal range (as mentioned above), creating just a gamut correction LUT (unchecking “apply calibration”), as well and bringing the LUT into Resolve and re-exporting the .cube in case there’s some sort of Blackmagic specific .cube format needed for the converter.
My resolve monitoring is set to 444 RGB full-range and Displaycal’s mapping is set to “auto.”
Does anyone know what might be going on? If I load the LUT directly into Resolve it appears correct, but the same LUT loaded into the converter completely clips out the shadows.
