i really what to thank for this program and the ability to use 3D LUT files for free.

the 500M in its Pure Mode may be close to reference but its a big difference in both grayscale and color grades near black with the 3D LUT.

going from almost clay/waterpaint flat looking faces and hairs in low apl scens to perfect grades and depth with the 3D LUT is almost like watching a new tv.
contrast in low light scenes is also improved when all grades is where they should be.

the 3D LUT really fixes those low luminance levels that is mismatch out of the box.

i would really like to do a 3D LUT from this native colorspace but i have tried several settings and it allways reduces the 3d lut to rec 709.
    but thats OT here 🙂

You can change the colorspace on the 3D LUT tab.

i selected DCI P3 and used that 3D LUT but the gamut is still reduced to rec709.

Are you sure the screen is in wide gamut mode? Can you attach the log? Thanks.

Looks fine. Remember that you need to switch to the correct 3D LUT slot in madVR when playing back content that’s not detected as P3.

    i think thats the problem
    i will try it
    thanks

Edit: no that didnt solve it
the gamut is still reduced to rec 709 With the P3 3D LUT file and P3 or any other slot in madvr

any more suggestions on whats wrong?
if i disable calibration i get the native gamut so it must be something with the 3D LUTs
they seems to behave the same both the one for rec 709 and DCI
    no difference.

Please attach the P3 3D LUT icm file as well as the Rec709 one.

The resulting gamuts of those two LUTs are very different and not at all the same. How did you verify each 3D LUT?

in what way are they different?

but ok then it must be a limitation with madvr that doesnt suppor wider gamuts than rec709 WITH 3D lut calibration.
i cant come up with any other reasons.

i will forward this issue to the madvr thread and ask why they put a gamut limit with 3d luts.
clearly madvr doesnt use all data in the 3d luts.

The P3 one has the larger gamut (unsurprisingly).
