Hi,
I’ve been trying to get my monitor’s color right for a while, I’ve invested in a spyder, and thanks to this forum I think I have the proper settings (GB led, adobeRGB) but I can’t get the colors right.
I’ve been trying a bunch of combinations (MBP, adobe, p3, HDR…) and the colore keeps coming as off.
Could someone confirm what would be the proper settings on the screen to calibrate it properly ? Or any other tips ?
Thanks a lot to all
2023-09-22 at 18:08 #138955You jumped on the wrong boat. SpyderX cannot be updated to different backlights in a distributed way… hence you are limited by the bundles and very limited set of colorimeter corrections. Try to return for refund and get an xrite/calibrite i1d3.
Regarding matching… you are assuming that macbook is accurate, it may not. IF you macbook has an XDR screen then gamma, grey color and primaries should be extremely close to spec, but whitepoint is unlikely to be close to CIE 1932 2 degree “D65” white. You can use built in white point costimization in display preferences to get that Apple display to desired white, but you’ll have to provide an accurate reading ofd actual display white…. which may be beyond the capabilies of a Spyder X without a 3rd party help (specytrophotometer). Anyway, its backlight is WLED PFS. Take a reading, feed it to macOS fine tune for XDR dispay, set D65 as target and OS will do the job. Then get D65 in the pd2720u with the RGB gains in OSD. Then choose the whiter one and fine tune th other to get a match in whitepoint.
Or… if you do not care about actual CIE 1931 2 degree as your reference and want to use macbooks white as reference, measure it, set it as target for pd2720u. Then fine tune gain till you get a match. Then calibrate & profile
If you chose to make a visual match as a final step, make sure that you set taht alt wp coordinates as target or that you set as measured in white refreence so DIsplayCAL won’t try to correct whatever you set visually. Also you should not use abs colorimetric LUT3D to simulate profiles with CIE 1931 2 degree, you can use it with the alternative white (bus choosing relative colorimetric intet it’s easier if you find this transformations too complicated).

I’ll start with that and keep you posted if the calibrite does a better job !
