Hello –
I’m new to DisplayCAL and I have a SpyderX Pro colorometer. When trying to install the Argyll Instrument Tools, I get the Argyll_V2.3.1d_USB_driver_installer missing.
I’ve read through some posts on this error and……it seems I’m out of luck with being able to use DisplayCAL, correct?
The solution appears to be to download Argyll 2.1.2 and point DisplayCAL to those executables. However, I cannot find Argyll 2.1.2 for download anywhere! It seems the previous versions are not kept publically archived.
If I’m wrong or missing something in regards to the above, I’d very much appreciate responses.
Thanks,
Mark

(Windows 11 Standard Installation):
1. Disable driver signing.
2. Plug in the Spyder
3. Download the Driver and extract it somewhere useful (link may change) – https://www.argyllcms.com/Argyll_V2.3.1_win64_exe.zip
4. Go to Device Manager and look for your Spyder under a USB Serial Bus Device
5. Right click and go to properties – Driver Tab – Update Driver
6. Click – Browse my computer for drivers
7. Click – Let me pick from list of available drivers on my computer
8. Click – Have Disk (bottom right button)
a. If it shows compatible devices found, “SpyderX (Argyll)”, select and skip to Step 11.
i. This happened to me and may be because I installed the Argyll 2.1.2 USB driver first (?).
9. Browse to the ArgyllCMS.inf file and Click Open
10. Click Next and select the Argyll driver and Ok
11. The Spyder now becomes a new device under Argyll LibUSB-win32
12. Calibrate using DisplayCal
Option 2
1. Disable driver signing.
2. Plug in the Spyder
3. Download the Driver and extract it somewhere useful (link may change) – https://www.argyllcms.com/Argyll_V2.3.1_win64_exe.zip
4. Install ArgyllCMS 2.1.2 USB driver (latest signed):
a. http://displaycal.net/Argyll/Argyll_V2.1.2_USB_driver_installer.exe.zip (need to install with admin rights)
5. Open DisplayCAL and see if it detects the Spyder.
6. Calibrate using DisplayCal
Option 3 (Install ArgyllCMS 2.1.2 USB Driver then proceed with standard install as noted above)
1. Follow instructions for ‘Option 2’, steps 1-4.
2. Follow standard Windows 11 install, above, starting at Step 4.
