Well… I got a course on darktable and in the course the author recommended calibrating your monitor so that your image would look the same on most monitors. Made sense to me so I bought a colormunki and operate it with displaycal. How does one use this thing? I mean I know how to use it to calibrate my monitor but it wants to create an ICC profile. Why? I don’t know! What do you use it for? That too I don’t know. Well, it took a crap while I was creating the profile so I do not know why that would happen. So please tell me what I need to do to fix it.
The error I got was:
Argyl CMS xicclu: invalid white RGB: 0.9028 0.8939 0.8927
followed by the message in the following window that:
Profiling has not been finished
I did feed the error into the search bar but it seems this is the first time this error has happened. That is unlikely but I got no hits.

Here are the contents of my storage directory:

there was no file called ‘incomplete’ where you said it would be.

2016-06-28 at 7:42 #3429The problem is not related to files. Your measurements are not stable, and thus you get useless values. You have to make sure that display + instrument aren’t subject to any internal and external influences (changing ambient light, “dynamic” dimming/contrast functionality of the monitor etc).
2016-06-28 at 17:49 #3434I ran it again and it created the profile so all is good… except it looks dim and green. I ran the calibration again and it says everything is dead-on.
2016-06-28 at 17:50 #3435does this look correct?

Please attach your profile (click “Create compressed archive…” next to “Settings”, with your profile selected).
2016-06-28 at 18:47 #3438no problem….. fiddling with contrast made it good. Thanks. I just created another icc profile because I messed with it and I’ll include it in this mail when it finishes! There is one problem though: the final results window says:
Argyll CMS: Ok
colord: Querying for profile…. returned no results for 5 secs
Profile loader: OK
again, could not find the profile so I am including the DisplayCAL directory and here is the directory of the .config directory:

Which desktop environment are you using?
2016-06-28 at 19:01 #3441I believe it is Mate. You know….. I really care about this because I work with photographs. I just opened a few old ones and the colors are simply phenomenal!
2016-06-28 at 19:06 #3442I believe it is Mate.
I’m not sure if Mate has colord support – afaik it needs a colord-aware session daemon. You may want to query someone familiar with that desktop.
2016-06-28 at 21:38 #3443the colord packages come pre-installed on my system (if that means anything).

Without support for colord in the session that doesn’t mean much.
2016-06-28 at 23:34 #3445so what should I do?

Contact the Mate developers and ask about the state of colord support.
