I encountered a bug. The display profile for my primary monitor is unloaded when I switch from “Show display on display 1 (my monitor)” to “duplicate display (to my monitor and an external display)”. This problem does not occur when I use extended display. The bug seems obvious. Normally, when I leftclick on the DisplayCAL profile loader in the tray, it will show the connected display(s) and the respective loaded profile (see pic1.jpg). When I apply extended display, this also works for both displays(see pic2.jpg)(note, my asus monitor is calibrated, my external source (marantz) not yet, so it is correct that it loads a profile for my monitor but not for the externel display).

Now, when I apply duplicate display, displaycal does not see my asus monitor anymore and unloads the profile for it (see pic3.jpg)! it only sees the external display (marantz).

Please approach me for further questions, thanks for your time.

Best regards

PS: I tried to switch back and forth between the modes, maybe you can see something in the logs

  1. This is not a bug – it is expected behavior. In mirroring mode, all connected displays are presented to the system as one.

    1. ok. could we somehow get the possiblity to choose which calibration profile is applied? or manipulate which display is seen by displaycal?

Sure, just associate the profile you want to use.

or manipulate which display is seen by displaycal?

No, you have to live with whatever the operating system gives you.

        1. Thank you for your help.  I thought it was a bug, sorry that I had to bother you. I will try to find a way to manipulate what display is seen by displaycal, maybe there is a way. associating the wrong profile is no option unfortunately, because I want to have two properly calibrated profiles for each setup in the future for the case of extended display, or single display output.

  2. in case anyone has the same issue: you can manipulate the loading order of the displays in duplicate mode with display changer 2. steps: generate a config xml file with your desired duplicate display settings. then, in the xml, swap both monitor entries. this way displaycal changer sees the other display and applies the respective profile.
