All programs except for the main application DisplayCAL fail to start on macOS Sierra.

Example error message:

LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10810 for the file /Applications/DisplayCAL/VRML to X3D.app.

All tools work in Mac OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan.

  1. Right, this is probably due to app translocation, which copies non-appstore apps to a randomised folder in /private/var/folders/ and runs it from there, which breaks symlinks. I’ll see if I can find a work-around. Note that the 0install apps are not affected.

  2. Ok, removing the quarantine flag from the app bundles (and contained files) should work. Run this in a terminal:

    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/DisplayCAL/*.app
