    Hello

I accidentally ran a ‘new’ profile session with a previous profile’s testchart indicated in the field box. (Instead of the Auto Optimized’ setting.)

Does using a previous testchart  mean that it is basing the new run on the old run instead of the display’s current and actual colors? … What exactly is DisplayCAL doing when I choose an existing testchart rather than using ‘Auto Optimized’?

Could you please explain the difference, I am very interested to learn what’s happening.

    Thank you very much Florian.

The it uses the existing placement of the test points in device space (RGB) – which is fine, as the optimized distribution of points, once determined for any particular display and patch amount, doesn’t change significantly unless the underlying display characteristics change (e.g. by adjusting the display’s response, or through the display aging).
