Here is the description of the problem I encountered.

After I finished the calibration and profiling of my laptop’s monitor, I tried to use displaycal profile loader to keep the calibration result. However, when I right click on the icon of the profile loader, the choice of “Preserve calibration state” is gray and I cannot enable it.

I referred to the post: https://hub.displaycal.net/forums/topic/preserve-calibration-state-not-working/

I tried to follow the step of the previous post to solve the problem. I checked my intel driver version is 21.20.16.4534 and the release date is 2016/10/07, which is up-to-date. Now I have no idea what is wrong with my setting.

Could anyone help me with the issue? Thank you all in advance.

You can click the profile loader icon to see why it’s disabled. In your case, probably because Windows is handling the calibration loading. You can turn that off in Windows color management settings under “Advanced” -> “Change system defaults…” -> “Advanced”.

    Hi Florian Höch,

Thank you for the suggestion! I followed your step and it works. However, when I restart the computer, it goes back to the original condition. Is it a problem of the windows?

So, the “Use Windows calibration” checkbox in color management settings gets re-checked without your intervention? Do you have any other calibration/profiling software installed? Also, make sure that when you install a profile using DisplayCAL, that “Let the operating system handle calibration loading” is not checked.

    Thank you for your advice!

I checked for a few days and finally find that it is the gigabyte aorus “command and control” that changes the default setting of windows color management. I disabled the auto launching and now displaycal profile loader works.

Hopefully my feedback can help those who uses gigabyte or aorus computer.

Hello, I am having this problem with my new Aorus. How is that configuration? I can´t configurate it to block Windows handling the color profiles.

The Aorus has a panel with different profiles (Pantone, D6500, D5800….) but I can´t block them. Even if I enter the screens configuration in the Desktop, profiles got crazy.

I can´t understand anything with this Laptop in terms of color configuration.

    Thanks!
